For all our activities, we provide qualified Leaders and the gear – this means you just gather your participants and arrive ready to get wet, have fun and try something new!

At SWASH, we have a team with the right qualifications to sign off OAS progressions and support people get their Scout Adventurous Activities or VET qualifications.

To Make a Booking

You can book into our activities either by yourself or as part of a group. To book, either:

WATER ACTIVITY DAY

Water activity days are aimed at giving everyone the experience of canoeing, motor boating and sailing on Sydney Harbour

  • No experience is necessary
  • Sausage sizzle provided for lunch
  • Suitable for all sections and Leaders

TRY SAILING AFTERNOON

Try sailing afternoons are aimed at teaching basic sailing skills including rigging a sailboat and having a sail on Sydney Harbour with an experienced skipper

  • Suitable for all sections and Leaders

JOEY SCOUT PADDLING

Joey Scout fun paddling mornings are aimed at Joey Scouts learning basic paddling and water safety skills

  • Paddle down to Woolwich baths, have some morning tea and practice floating and swimming in PFDs
  • No experience is necessary
  • Morning tea is supplied

CUB SCOUT CANOEING

Cub canoe days are aimed at Cubs learning and/or practicing paddling and water safety skills

  • Play lots of games on the water to teach skills in a fun way along with practicing swimming in PFDs and learning what different parts of the canoe called
  • No experience is necessary
  • Sausage sizzle provided for lunch

SCOUT AND VENTURER SCOUT CANOE WEEKEND

These weekends are aimed at Scouts and Venturers learning and/or practicing paddling, water safety skills and deepwater rescues

  • Play games of the water to teach paddling skills in a fun way along with skills required for OAS stages
  • No experience is necessary
  • Sausage sizzle provided for lunch
  • Includes two day-time sessions on the same weekend but does not include overnight accommodation.

ROVER SCOUT AND ADULT CANOE WEEKEND

These weekends are aimed at Rovers and Adults wanting to gain paddling skills to achieve OAS progressions or Safe or Trained Participant in canoeing

  • No experience is necessary
  • Sausage sizzle provided for lunch
  • Includes two day-time sessions on the same weekend but does not include overnight accommodation.

SAILING COURSES

These courses are aimed at teaching the skills required to achieve safe or trained participant in sailing small boats in smooth water and light to moderate wind conditions

  • These generally run over 3 weekends
  • No experience is necessary
  • Sausage sizzle provided for lunch
  • Suitable for Cubs (safe participant only) and Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Leaders (safe or trained participant)

BASIC WATER RESCUES

Basic water rescues are required to achieve Trained Participant in a number of the water disciplines or take youth members swimming in unpatrolled flatwater environments

  • You must be able to swim 200m without a PFD to participate
  • Suitable for Venturers, Rovers and Leaders

CANOE RPL SESSIONS (1/2 DAY)

Aimed at members who have canoeing experience and a logbook and are wanting to upgrade their qualifications to safe or trained participant in Flat Water or Moving Water up to Grade 1 Rivers

  • Suitable for Venturers, Rovers and Leaders

SAILING RPL SESSIONS (1 DAY)

Aimed at members who have sailing experience and a logbook and are wanting to upgrade their qualifications to safe or trained participant
